Montgomery Educational Consulting is pleased to announce that Katherine Price has become a senior associate with the firm.
Katherine has over ten years of professional experience in admissions and student affairs. Most recently, she was Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission at Babson College, in Massachusetts, where she read thousands of student applications, counseled prospective students, and streamlined office procedures. Katherine rose to her position quickly in the Babson office of admissions, after distinguishing herself in working with both international and transfer students. Katherine brings a particular expertise in reviewing applications from India, East Asia, Turkey, and the Middle East.
Prior to her admissions work, Katherine also served various roles in student affairs, both at Babson and at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She has experience with dealing with issues of student retention, new student orientation, educational assessment, residence hall management, and student advising. Thus Katherine has the perspective to help students to think beyond the all-important college choice, and to consider factors that will help them be successful in whichever college they choose.
“I love working with young people,” explained Katherine, “and I’m excited to be able to put my knowledge and experience to work for students and families as they try to unravel the complexities of college admissions.”
Katherine describes her philosophy as completely student-centered. “I enjoy working side by side with students in a way that will ensure that they get the right amount of challenge and support to reach their educational aspirations. I can give the students the information they need to make the right decisions for themselves.”
Having read thousands of applications in a competitive admissions process, Katherine understands the importance of crafting a thoughtful application. “Often the applications that land on an admissions officer’s desk simply are not the best representations of that student. Even the best students sometimes neglect important aspects of the application, and therefore do not stand out in the stack,” she continued. “I can help students think more carefully and strategically about how to best present themselves in the essays and on the application.”
“I’m delighted that Katherine is part of the team,” said Mark Montgomery, President of Montgomery Educational Consulting. “With her dual experience in both admissions and student affairs at three different universities, Katherine has first-hand knowledge of the importance of a good college fit.”
Katherine earned a Masters in Higher Education Administration from Boston College, and a BA in English from the University of San Diego. She lives in Littleton, Colorado, with her husband and daughter.
TESTIMONIALS FOR KATHERINE
“I want to thank you and Katherine for helping Gina with her college planning and application process. As a business owner I don’t have a lot of time so I need to hire professionals. It lifted quite a burden off of my shoulders to be able to hire a team who already knew the ropes and who could identify where to apply and just as importantly, which places that were not a “good fit” for my daughter, Gina. Katherine helped Gina every step of the way and she was able to secure merit aid to 7 colleges which greatly expanded her college choices. Gina is a Freshman now and she is happy and confident that she chose the correct school. This is probably the best money I have ever spent as a parent. Thank you so much for your help.”
