College Admission is Getting Less Competitive?

Is this good new for admission candidates? Well yes, but don’t get too excited. You still need to work hard on your applications!

Doubt it! I think the truth is that the more “popular” colleges will continue to become more competitive!

Averages are deceiving. This happens when you call a vocational school a community “college”.

The $/student sounds like nonsense to me. The privates simply have much larger endowments they draw from yearly, while the publics rely on state funds that are not capitalized in a way that enters into the calculation.

i’m a senor student on the IB diploma programme. What this means for the U.S. College admission process ? can i consider the IB high level courses i’m taken as equivalent to AP or honors courses ? further how can i convert IB predicted grades to USA grading system es like ACT OR GPA?

Even if the acceptance rate at four- year colleges is down it does not mean that the competition is any less grueling. It is a jungle in there and you still have to be at the top of your game to be accepted. Do not let the averages fool you. You still have to excell to get in to the college of your choice.

    Hello,

Thank you for your question. You can consider an IB diploma as the equivalent to a full AP level curriculum. Colleges will consider you in a very competitive curriculum. As far as grading goes, every college will do it differently, but most will view an IB grade of a 7 or 6 as an A, a 5 as a B, 4 or 3 as a C, 2 as a D and 1 as an F. You can loosely calculate your GPA based on that scale.

    Good luck!

Emilee (and sometimes ashlee) is spamming Acceptedge all over the place. Search Google to see what I mean. I’m spamming back with collegeconfidential.com , mychances.net , collegedata.com , and unigo.com . There, now you have more options to choose from, folks!

  9. Mark says:

Thanks, Travis. I’ve recognized the spam, too, and have deleted the links and complained to the owners of the company. They were contrite, but I’m still steamed.
