Andrea was an amazing source of knowledge, advice and wisdom! She has such a calm demeanor but operates with a “take charge” attitude that allows you to have confidence that everything is going to work out fine. And it did for my daughter. She managed the entire process. But more importantly she took the time to get to know my daughter so that she guided her towards colleges that would be the right fit for her. She truly cares and is passionate about her work. She operates with complete integrity. I highly recommend her.

I started working with Pam Gentry at the end of my junior year, heading into senior year. I had a lot of different interests in high school—business, healthcare, service—but they didn’t feel cohesive.

“Jamie was an amazing help and guide throughout the college application process. I started off lost and uncertain where to begin on many of my essays, but through his friendly
attitude and encouraging feedback, I became more confident and writing became easier! He is very professional and knowledgeable about essay content and direction. Even during the busiest weeks, Jamie consistently met my requests to read over drafts. Thanks to him, I was able to get into my dream school!”

“The most obvious service that Jamie did for Irving was helping him focus on the writing of a well-crafted, well thought-out admissions essay. But the bigger, more subtle thing Jamie did was help my son figure out what it is he wanted from a college, what he thought that college could do for him, and what he imagined that relationship would look like. The result was my son was enthusiastically accepted by his top pick. A smart, kind and clever dude. Perfect fit for my kid.”

“Jamie was an amazing college counselor. I was originally pretty lost in the college search and needed to decide what I truly wanted out of college admissions. He helped me narrow down my list and perfect my Common Application, which helped me feel much more prepared. He was incredibly supportive throughout the personal statement and supplementals writing and editing process, which made it much easier. He kept me accountable for everything related to college admissions and helped me easily meet all my deadlines. In my college search, I discovered that my dream school was Washington and Lee University. I knew it would be difficult to get in and win the full-tuition scholarship offered there, but Jamie helped me make that dream a reality! He was by my side during this extremely stressful time in my life, and I fully recommend him to anyone who needs a college counselor!”

Hi Sarah, I wanted to let you know that I just committed to UW! It has the amazing engineering and business programs I want, and close to home + in state tuition made it just a fantastic choice. Thank you for all your help during the application process, I’m really grateful for all your advice and feedback!

I highly recommend Sarah as a college admissions counselor. She has been SOOO helpful for everything from assessing college fit and creating a list of target schools to reviewing essays and providing valued feedback. Sarah is a really empathetic person and her background in school counseling means that she really gets where kids are coming from. She knows how to balance the pressure students feel with the importance of the process. In addition, she works with a network of admissions counselors that provides additional depth to her college knowledge.

I highly recommend Sarah as a college counselor. She has been the most invaluable resource to me on my college application journey. I’ve worked with her since about the winter of 2023 and she has not only offered me amazing feedback and tips but has been incredibly flexible and understanding of my situations. She’s offered to nominate me for scholarships, revised my personal statement over and over, and has helped me find countless resources to make my transition to college easier. Throughout the entire journey, she has been nothing but kind and understanding, and I could never be more thankful to her.

I want to thank you both, especially Sarah, for the superb guidance our son received during his application process. It was at just the right level of content as he feels pride in having created all the content himself and can take pride in his work. It was delivered with just the right touch, enough to motivate him to produce consistently in an ambitious timeframe under heavy academic load and frequent sports commitments. Our son was accepted into many of the schools where he applied and was waitlisted at some–no small feat for an engineering program applicant. Regardless, GCA saved us a great deal of time and, frankly, strife. We feel it was worth every penny.

Overall I could not have asked for a better experience. Whether it was understanding the college process or writing and critiquing essays, none of my success would have been possible without the help from Sarah Farbman.

I have worked with Sarah all this last year and I can define the results as totally successful. As an international student, I had a hard time initially understanding how applying to US universities worked. But Sarah made it look so easy. Now I was accepted to the university that I wanted from the beginning and I can say that, without her help, I probably would not have made it. Totally a five star job!
