Books
Parents and students are always on the lookout for excellent resources on the college admissions process. For a list of the books I recommend, turn to my page of recommended college admissions books.
Standardized Tests
Before you do anything else, buy these books. These two books provide you the easiest and most cost-effective way to start preparing.
I recommend purchasing the “official” guides published by the makers of the tests. For the ACT, buy this one:

Of course, there are loads of other guides out there, but how many books are you going to have the time to wade through?
Once you’ve reviewed the books, assessed your own score, and discussed the result with a college counselor, you may opt to take a course to learn strategies, bone up on your content knowledge, and generally be more prepared for the test. Here are some resources you may want to consider:
