Also, there are a whole wealth of opportunities out there with different organisations offering different things, from volunteering, to expeditions to learning a skill. A good place to look at the range of options out there is the Year Out Group - http://www.yearoutgroup.org For anyone thinking of volunteering, it is important to research the options. There are some great projects out there, but there are also many which aren’t all that worthwhile.
