Jared Hobson
Jared Hobson serves as President of Great College Advice, where he leads the firm’s strategic direction as well as being involved in sales & marketing and counseling. He is passionate about helping students navigate the college admissions process with clarity, confidence, and significantly less stress. Jared holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. While at Cornell, he served as an admissions reader and interviewer on the university’s Student Admissions Committee, giving him valuable firsthand insight into how selective colleges evaluate applicants.
Prior to entering college admissions consulting, Jared spent 25 years in the investment management industry, specializing in in-depth research and analysis of public companies. This experience sharpened his ability to ask the right questions, evaluate fit, and synthesize complex information—skills that translate directly to helping students identify colleges where they can thrive. Just as he once visited company headquarters to understand culture and leadership, Jared regularly visits college campuses and speaks with admissions officers, students, and faculty to provide informed, up-to-date guidance. His consulting process emphasizes storytelling, strategy, and authenticity, helping students present a clear, compelling narrative in their applications.
