Some of the best advice we receive is from our own clients. Every fall, I check in with the students I worked with the previous year. I always ask them about their adjustment to college and what they have become involved in. I also ask about their application process. Is there anything they wish they had previously considered? What advice would they pass on?
US News and World Report did the same thing with 8 students from Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland. The article highlights which schools the students applied to and why. They also provide some insights on what they learned along the way.
While this article highlights students who were admitted to their “dream schools”, it is important to consider that it does not always work out that way. However, if you read the article closely, you can learn that not all of the students were admitted to every schoolt that they applied to, but they all ended up with great options. This shows the importance of preparation and having the right college list. The college application process is not always easy and it can definitely be unpredictable. It is great to see students talk about their journey, even though things did not turn out how they expected them to.
