As high school seniors head back for their last year in high school, many are unsure of all the key steps they need to take in order to successfully apply for college. - Understand the financial aid process, so you understand how aid packages are constructed and how that will affect you
- Find out from your parents how much is in the college fund

- Keep up your grades and maintain a challenging course load
- Determine if applying either Early Action or Early Decision is a help or hindrance
- Get started early on those essays and other components of applications

Mark Montgomery, PhD, is president of Montgomery Educational Consulting, a full-service educational planning company that can help students at all levels of academic performance to find the colleges that suit their abilities and aspirations.
Montgomery is a college insider who uses his knowledge of schools and experience as a professor and administrator to advise students and their families.
