As high school seniors head back for their last year in high school, many are unsure of all the key steps they need to take in order to successfully apply for college. During the upcoming live #TwitterChat, Montgomery (https://twitter.com/collegeadvice) will address and help prioritize high school seniors’ action items including:

  • Understand the financial aid process, so you understand how aid packages are constructed and how that will affect you
  • Find out from your parents how much is in the college fund
  • Create a college list that provide a great education at your family’s affordable budget
  • Keep up your grades and maintain a challenging course load
  • Determine if applying either Early Action or Early Decision is a help or hindrance
  • Get started early on those essays and other components of applications
  • Consider whether you need to take one more round of standardized tests
  • Stay active and involved

Mark Montgomery, PhD, is president of Montgomery Educational Consulting, a full-service educational planning company that can help students at all levels of academic performance to find the colleges that suit their abilities and aspirations.
Montgomery is a college insider who uses his knowledge of schools and experience as a professor and administrator to advise students and their families. He is a member of a number of professional associations including the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA, Associate Member), Colorado Council on High School/College Relations (CCHS/CR), and the Rocky Mountain Association of College Admissions Counselors (RMACAC).
