Ahmet Yükleyen is a leading US university admissions consultant in Turkey. Ahmet heads up our office in Istanbul. As an accomplished academic and student of cultural exchange, Ahmet has both the personal experience and expertise to advise students seeking an education in the United States or Europe. Ahmet was awarded scholarships to attend university in the United States and spent 15 years in the US both as a student and as a professor. A life-long fisherman, Ahmet believes strongly in the idea that his role as a teacher and advisor is to teach his students to fish: “It’s important to learn how to hook your own fish, and I can teach my students the skills and habits of mind that will lead to that big catch!”
A Successful Global Student and Teacher
Born in the Netherlands, Ahmet received his BA in international relations from Bilkent University, one of the top universities in the country. He then was awarded a scholarship for a Masters degree at the Joseph Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver. There, he first met Mark Montgomery and worked in his office for a time while Mark was Associate Dean of the Korbel School. Ahmet went on to receive a scholarship from Boston University to complete a PhD in cultural anthropology. Ahmet understands from personal experience the path toward competitive academic achievement in the United States.
After receiving his doctorate in 2006, Ahmet was appointed the Croft Associate Professor of Anthropology and International Studies at the University of Mississippi. He was awarded tenure and service on the scholarship and admissions committees. Thus he has first-hand experience reviewing applications of both international and domestic students, both at the graduate and undergraduate level.
A Strong Mentor and Role Model
As a professor, Ahmet personally advised dozens of students along their educational journey and helped several attain admission to the Ivy League. He believes in the critical importance of mentorship, especially for international students who need an inspiring role model, and who may need extra guidance as they embark on an educational experience abroad. He knows that finding the best university or program is all about understanding what a young person wants in life. Beyond that, it’s about getting the right advice and developing the mindset for success.
Personal
Ahmet lives in Istanbul with his wife and three children. He spends his free time hiking and camping in the outdoors. As an avid fisherman, he currently goes for anchovies in the Bosphorus, but misses his experiences fishing for catfish on the Mississippi River and bluefish from the beaches of New England.

Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde üniversite eğitimi için burs aldı ve 15 yıl ABD’de hem öğrenci hem de üniversite hocası olarak çalıştı. Başarılı Bir Global Öğrenci ve Öğretmen
Hollanda doğumlu olan Ahmet, lisans derecesini Türkiye’nin en iyi üniversitelerinden biri olan Bilkent Üniversitesi’nin uluslararası ilişkiler bölümünden aldı. Daha sonra Denver Üniversitesi, Joseph Korbel Uluslararası Çalışmalar Fakültesi’nde yüksek lisans yapmak için burslu kabul aldı. Mark Montgomery ile ilk kez orada tanıştı ve bir süre Mark’ın Dekan Yardımcısı olduğu ofisinde çalıştı. Ahmet, kültürel antropolojide doktora yapmak için Boston Üniversitesi’nden burs alarak eğitimine devam etti. Ahmet, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ndeki rekabetçi akademik başarının yolunu kişisel deneyimlerinden biliyor.
2006’da doktorasını tamamlayan Ahmet, University of Mississippi’de Croft Antropoloji ve Uluslararası İlişkiler hocası olarak atandı. Doçentliğini ve kadrosunu alan Ahmet, üniversitenin burs ve kabul komitelerinde de görev yaptı. Bu nedenle hem uluslararası hem de Amerikalı öğrencilerin lisans ve yüksek lisans düzeyindeki başvurularını değerlendirmede bizzat tecrübesi var.

Bir üniversite hocası olarak Ahmet, düzinelerce öğrenciye eğitim yolculukları boyunca tavsiyelerde bulundu ve birkaçının da Amerika’nın en iyi üniversitelerinin olduğu Ivy League’ine kabul edilmelerine yardım etti. Mentorluğun, özellikle ilham verici bir rol modele ve yurtdışında bir eğitime başlarken ekstra yardıma ihtiyaç duyan uluslararası öğrenciler için kritik öneme sahip olduğuna inanıyor. Kişisel
Ahmet, eşi ve iki çocuğu ile İstanbul’da yaşıyor. Boş zamanlarında dağlarda yürüyüş ve kamp yapmayı seviyor. Sıkı bir balıkçı olarak Boğaz’da istavrit için olta atıyor ancak Mississippi Nehri’nde yayın ve New England sahillerinden lüfer tutmayı da özlüyor.
