Chinese Students and Beloit College–The Case for A Liberal Arts Education

In researching notable Chinese people who have attended liberal arts colleges in the United States, I came across this honors term project written in 1993 by a student at Beloit College, entitled (appropriately enough Chinese Students and Beloit College. Written by Xinwei Cai, this article is thorough study of Beloit’s history of interaction with China, as well as a look at the reasons why Chinese students have chosen to study at Beloit over the years.
I recommend this article to any Chinese student who is interested in studying in the United States, and who may be considering a strong, academically rigorous liberal arts education in a community that is warm and welcoming of its Chinese students.

Study in the USA from Guangzhou, China

During a recent trip to Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China, I met with hundreds of students and their parents to explain the American higher education system.  I participated in college fairs, presented at education expos, and gave lectures.

As this short video explains, there is a dearth of good information about how to study in the USA, and many misconceptions about what it means to study in the United States.

Have a look!

How to Go to College: The Unofficial Rules

This was recommended to me by a friend on Twitter. It is a very clear, explicit guide for approaching your college career.  Too many students leave for college believing that the “school rules” will be essentially the same as those they encountered in high school

Nothing could be further from the truth.

This guide should be required reading for every high school graduate and college freshman.

Read it the How to Go To College rulebook and let me know what you think.
